If you enjoy stories about Japan’s Sengoku period or have played games based on that era, you are probably familiar with the famous warlord Date Masamune. Personally, I think his one-eyed appearance looks incredibly cool. Date Masamune was the feudal lord of Sendai and an important historical figure who laid the foundations for modern-day Sendai. As a result, many historical sites and local souvenirs in the city are related to Date Masamune. Sendai is definitely a destination worth visiting.

How to Travel to Sendai
JR: From Tokyo Station, take the JR Tohoku Shinkansen Hayabusa or Hayate. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. This is my most recommended way to travel to Sendai. Traveling by Shinkansen also makes a day trip from Tokyo to Sendai relatively convenient.
From Sendai Airport to Central Sendai
Sendai also has an international airport. For travelers from Taiwan, Tigerair Taiwan and EVA Air currently operate direct flights, although schedules may have changed since the pandemic, so it is recommended to check the airlines’ official websites. From Sendai Airport, you can take a train to Sendai Station, and the journey takes approximately 25 minutes.

If you are planning to visit Sendai, I also recommend including other destinations in the Tohoku region in your itinerary. If you plan to travel throughout northeastern Japan, purchasing a JR Japan Kanto Pass will make it much more convenient to take different Shinkansen trains. The hotel is directly connected to JR Sendai Station, so you can reach the hotel lobby in approximately two minutes without even needing to go fully outdoors. This is a major advantage for travelers carrying luggage. Another benefit of staying here is that you never need to worry about dining or shopping. The hotel is directly connected to the S-PAL Sendai shopping center, which contains restaurants, cafés, and a variety of souvenir stores. If you want to purchase snacks or local specialties, you can also stock up at the supermarket. Sendai PARCO department store and Yodobashi Camera Sendai are also located nearby, making the hotel’s location truly outstanding.
