Opened in Shibuya in 2020, the landmark mixed-use complex “MIYASHITA PARK” is a long, narrow park built alongside the JR Yamanote Line tracks. It originally opened in 1953 and was rebuilt in 1966 as a multi-level park, with parking on the lower level and the park above. However, the old structure faced serious engineering and urban planning challenges, including deteriorating concrete and insufficient earthquake resistance. Shibuya City therefore led a large-scale redevelopment project, transforming the site into a modern urban oasis.
The newly redesigned “Shibuya City Miyashita Park” itself was elevated to the fourth-floor rooftop, while the first through third floors were developed as the commercial complex “RAYARD MIYASHITA PARK.” This design maximizes the use of vertical space while preserving the unique memory of hearing trains rush by nearby, making it one of Shibuya's newest must-visit attractions. From JR Shibuya Station's Miyamasuzaka Exit, or subway exits B2 or A7b, walk north for about 3 minutes to reach the southern entrance of the park.
