During a previous trip to Tokyo, I heard many people talk about Kamikochi in Nagano Prefecture, a hidden destination near Tokyo whose spectacular scenery has earned it the nickname “Home of the Gods.” I once joined a long winter bus day tour to see Kamikochi covered in snow, and it was genuinely beautiful. However, if I visited again, I would recommend a two-day, one-night trip and staying overnight near Kappa Bridge or Taisho Pond.
